The Dog

Well, as you may know...my dog, Jake likes to eat everything in sight. Luckily, he does not chew on furniture. I used to walk him every day at lunch until it got too cold and I got sick last week. So, he's been getting bored in his crate. We would keep toys in there, but he destroys them and eats them as well. So, we do not leave anything in his crate. We may want to try to leave him some bones.

We normally keep fleece blankets in his crate, because he has destroyed 2 beds and by destroyed I mean he has eaten the stuffing. Last week, he apparently got bored and decided to eat chunks out of the fleece blanket that I received from my old job. I did not know this until I was trying to pull it out of his butt when he was having trouble pooping. I thought he had passed all that he ate, but he's been throwing up his food hours after he has eaten...just a couple times. After this morning's vomit, I noticed he had passed more of the blanket outside. When I got home from lunch, he had thrown up again in his crate. When I let him outside, he was having trouble pooping again, so I stepped outside to pull it out and (TMI) it was nearly 4-5 feet long. Apparently, he had eaten a side of the blanket (the length of it). It is more of a throw, but still! I was soooo grossed out and he seemed to be in pain when I pulled it out...poor guy! So, I fed him half a cup and had to go back to work. DH should be on his way home to check on him and probably being him to the vet to make sure no more is left in his system. I can't imagine how much this vet bill will be...

I am amazed he swallowed this piece and did not throw it back up (he has a sensitive stomach). I guess he may have tried to throw it back up, but couldn't because it was so long. Why did we end up with a "Marley" of sorts?

I think we should wait a few months before trying for kids...Jake seems to be more of a handful than I imagined!
